NURS 420 - Leadership in Healthcare


3 CR

This course covers the analysis, integration and application of leadership principles in health care organizations and population-based efforts across the health care delivery system. The focus is on interaction and socialization into the professional leadership role and skills needed for health care providers as leaders in today’s health care environment.

Prerequisite(s): Acceptance into BSN program.

Course Outcomes
  1. Compare the difference between leadership and management.   

  1. Identify values and practice self-reflection to develop leadership skills. 

  1. Identify a shared vision that made a positive health impact.  

  1. Explicate key concepts from systems theory. 

  2. Analyze contributing factors of a population health concern in order to create change.

  3. Advocate addressing health care inequities, environmental health, and healthcare system resiliency. 

  4. Encourage self and others to create a positive working environment for change.
