ECED& 120 - Practicum-Nurturing Relationships 2 CR
This course focuses on establishing culturally responsive, nurturing, supportive relationships with all children and adults in early learning settings. Students will focus on promoting growth and development, and creating a safe and stimulating environment. Strategies for professionalism, understanding and acknowledging cultural responsivity in early care and eucation will be emphasized.
Prerequisite(s): Permission of instructor with proof of negative TB test (within one year), WA state approved MMR clearance, and valid National Background Check.
Course Outcomes
- Examine how teachers’ lived experiences, identities, and cultural backgrounds shape their biases and interactions with children.
- Explain the significance of cultural responsivity in early care and education.
- Demonstrate strategies that build nurturing relationships between the child, family, and educator.
- Practice ideals of professionalism and cultural responsivity when engaging with children, families and peers.
