OLS 101 - Nutrition II: Personal Health and Self-Care

Building on the foundations of Nutrition I, this course focuses on personal care, mental health, and self-esteem as key components of wellness. Students will develop individualized health plans that incorporate hygiene, emotional well-being, and self-advocacy. The course emphasizes cultural awareness, preventative care, and access to health resources.   Course is graded Credit/No Credit

Prerequisite(s): OLS 100  

Course Outcomes
  • Identify healthy hygiene and personal care routines.  

  • Discuss mental health conditions and coping strategies for wellness.  

  • Explain how preventative care contributes to long-term health.  

  • Analyze cultural and social influences on body image and health behaviors.  

  • Develop a weekly personal wellness plan that includes self-care and emotional health strategies.  

  • Compose personal statements that reflect strengths and support needs for self-advocacy.  

  • Identify reliable sources of health information and services for medical concerns.
