OLS 107 - Healthy Relationships 2 CR
This course helps students build strong, respectful relationships by exploring the qualities of healthy personal connections. Students will learn to recognize emotional responses, practice active listening, and use non-violent communication to resolve conflicts. Through discussions and real-life scenarios, students will develop essential skills for maintaining healthy and meaningful relationships. Course is graded Credit/No Credit.
Prerequisite(s): Acceptance into the Occupational and Life Skills program.
Course Outcomes
- Describe the characteristics of healthy personal relationships.
- Identify personal signs of emotional dysregulation, including physical feelings and thoughts.
- Apply active listening strategies to scenarios involving friends, family, and romantic partners.
- Use non-violent communication strategies to resolve conflicts in personal relationships.
- Describe the stages of the dating process, including attraction, uncertainty, commitment, intimacy, and engagement.
- Define “consent” and describe ways to obtain consent in intimate interactions.
