OLS 125 - Environment and Your Values 2 CR
This course helps students explore their personal values and how those values can guide actions that support their community and the environment. Students learn how volunteer efforts make a difference and explore sustainability, climate change, and endangered species. Students see how values and action lead to change. Students also collaborate on a project that reflects their values and supports environmental well-being. Course is graded Credit/No Credit.
Prerequisite(s): OLS 123
Course Outcomes
- Identify and define how your values can serve your community
- Collaborate on a local environmental problem, and recommend community-oriented solutions
- Explore how communities have addressed environmental problems in their neighborhoods
- Learn about conserving and restoring endangered species
- Understand how sustainability can help reduce climate change
- Define renewable/non-renewable sources of energy; discuss their impacts on the environment
- Explain the causes and effects of global climate change
- Explain the role of volunteers in the environmental movement
