RAIT 301 - Sectional Anatomy 5 CR
Presents normal human anatomy in various planes using Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance (MR), interventional, and cardiac catheter images. This course is intended to meet the degree requirements of the Technology concentration as well as the requirements of the CT Imaging and Magnetic Resonance Imaging certificates of the Radiation & Imaging Sciences program.
Prerequisite(s): BIOL 241 and BIOL 242 , with a C (2.0) or better AND admission to the Radiation & Imaging Sciences program or permission of the Program Chair.
Course Outcomes
- List differences between computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance (MR) images, and identify medical images as one or the other. Identify the normal anatomy of structures listed in the content using images from various special imaging modalities.
- Locate organs, muscles, blood vessels, and ducts in the head, neck, thorax, abdomen, and pelvis in 3 dimensions
- Employ standard tomographic axes and identify the plane of tomographic images
- Correctly utilize directional terms (e.g., anterior/posterior, superior/inferior, medial/lateral) to describe the anatomic relationships between various structures
- Create drawings and presentations showing anatomic structures and their relationships
- Differentiate between normal and abnormal anatomy, taking into account anatomic variances, and discussing supporting evidence
