HPM 430 - Chronic Disease Prevention & Interventions 5 CR
Explores the relationship between chronic diseases/conditions, lifestyle behaviors, and the environment. Includes an examination of a wide variety of chronic conditions and focuses on prevention and management strategies.
Prerequisite(s): Admission to the Health Promotion and Education program, or permission of the Program Chair.
Course Outcomes

Understand the role of inflammation, stress, and epigenetics in the development of chronic diseases.

Examine the etiology, prevalence, risks, treatment options, and effective prevention strategies of current chronic disease processes.

Evaluate the impacts of a healthy lifestyle on the prevention or management of chronic conditions.

Examine the relationship between health disparities and social determinants of health in the prevention and management of chronic diseases.
