KINS 211 - Fitness Assessment

Previously PE 211.
The Fitness Assessment class is designed to allow students to explore the many options for screening and assessment in the fitness industry.  Students will be able to identify and describe appropriate screening components and processes, select the proper fitness assessments based on client needs, and perform basic health-related physical fitness assessments for healthy adult clients.

Course Outcomes
  • Develop competence in conducting health risk screening within scope of practice
  • Cultivate proficiency applying assessment knowledge to develop a safe and comprehensive fitness evaluation for a client.
  • Understand and explain proper assessment instructions through professional client communication skills.
  • Apply knowledge to determine appropriate fitness assessments for a range of clients.
  • Accurately administer a variety of assessments to gather and document information on resting measurements, body composition, flexibility and balance, cardiorespiratory fitness, functional movement, muscular strength and muscular endurance.
