What makes culture “popular”? What can we learn about our society by studying popular culture? How does popular culture impact our identities? Discover the dynamic role popular culture plays in society and its impact on our everyday lives. Themes may include advertising, consumerism, music, gaming, fashion, memes, movies and shows, and social media.

- Critically “read” popular culture items from a sociological perspective.
- Describe how the intersections of race, class, and gender are represented and maintained in popular culture texts.
