ABE 33 - Grammar 3: Grammar for Academic Writing

Emphasizes the development of grammar knowledge and sentence construction to improve academic reading and writing. Upon completion, students will effectively use technology to construct a variety of sentence types with correct verb usage, end punctuation, and capitalization.  Grading: BEdA

Prerequisite(s): For the department’s consent, attend intake sessions and complete required program assessments. HS+ Students transcript evaluation.

Course Outcomes

Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English grammar and usage when writing (CCR Anchor 1A- Language)
Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English capitalization, punctuation and spelling when writing. (CCR Anchor 2B – Language)
Ask and answer questions such as yes/no and who, what, where, when, and why (CCR Anchor 1B -Reading)
Use linking words and phrases to connect ideas within categories of information, opinion, and reasons (CCR Anchors 1B & 2B – Writing) 
Develop and strengthen writing by revising, editing, or rewriting. (CCR Anchor 5A – Writing)
Use technology to produce and publish writing and to interact and collaborate with others. (CCR Anchor 6B – Writing)
