ELA 82 - Speaking and Listening Beginning


5 CR

Students develop speaking and listening skills in the contexts of Social Science, Public Service, Community Engagement and Health Science.  

This is low beginning to high beginning English for English Language Learners.

Course Outcomes
Outcomes align with College and Career Readiness Standards (CCR) and English Language Proficiency Standards (ELP).  

  • Participate in conversations with diverse partners in small and large groups. (CCR Speaking and Listening Anchor 1A; ELP 2.2)  

  • Describe people, places, things, or events, and express ideas and feelings. (CCR Speaking and Listening Anchor 4A; ELP 3.2)  

  • Ask and answer questions about key details and demonstrate understanding of information presented orally. (CCR Speaking and Listening Anchor 2A; ELP 1.2) 

  • Use words and phrases learned in conversations, reading, and being read to. (CCR Language Anchor 6.A: ELP 7.2)
