ABE 13 - Math 6: Thinking Through Math for College Transitions


1-10 CR

Students meet class objectives through the use of intermediate algebra to solve problems. Students build their math vocabulary as well as note-taking and technology skills.  Grading: BeDA

Prerequisite(s): For the department’s consent, attend intake session, complete required program math assessments. HS+ Students transcript evaluation.

Course Outcomes
 

  1. Use mathematical concepts to solve basic, non-calculator based, math problems. 
  2. Apply knowledge of algebraic concepts and formulas to solve multi-step problems including Slope Formula and equation of lines. (CCR.6.EE.2c)
  3. Apply knowledge of graphing to solve linear equations. 
  4. Apply knowledge of Pythagorean Theorem. (CCR.8.G.8)
  5. Solve Basic Data and Statistics Problems (CCR.6.SP.5)
  6. Use the Quadratic Formula (CCR.A.SSE.3a, 
  7. Recognize a Function (CCR.F.IF.7)
  8. Add, Subtract, Multiply and Divide Complex Polynomials (CCR.A.APR.1)
  9. Organize, represent and interpret data to answer questions 
  10. Use technology to support and report on mathematical concepts (CCR.W.8.3.8)
