CES 125 - Introduction to Immigration in the United States

This course will examine the state of immigration and what it means to be an immigrant in the United States. It will study immigration from a historical, cultural, and political perspective. Themes may include push and pull factors for immigration, immigration laws and policies, and social perceptions of immigrants and immigration.

Course Outcomes

Demonstrate an informed, critical, and articulate approach to historical, social, and political factors that shape immigration.
Examine the impact of race, gender, and sexuality on immigration patterns and policies.
Analyze primary, secondary, and digital sources related to immigration in the U.S.
Evaluate contemporary perceptions and attitudes toward immigration in the U.S.
Construct coherent, well-developed, and expressive written and verbal responses about the dynamic trajectory of immigration in the U.S.
