KINS 235 - Anatomical Kinesiology for Yoga 3 CR
A basic and applied understanding of Anatomical Kinesiology to yoga poses postures, and alignment. Intended for students in the Yoga Instructor Certificate, but also designed for anyone looking to enhance their knowledge of muslces, bones, and joints in relation to movement of yoga practice. Admittiance to the YIC program required or approval of faculty.
Prerequisite(s): Instructor’s Consent Required
Course Outcomes
- Identify major muscle agonists, antagonists, origins and insertions
- Explain how each joint moves and how it applies to proper yoga alignment, posture, and form corrections
- Explain common injurues and how to work with, or modify based on anatomical knowledge
- Integrate knowledge of muscle contractions to poses and sequences.
- Relate proper yoga form to anatomically correct knowledge
