NDT 253 - Intraoperative Neuromonitoring Journal Review


2 CR

Students will participate in an online, semi-asynchronous class environment which will encourage the development of critical thinking skills necessary for continuing education. Students will identify topics of interest relevant to the field of intraoperative neuromonitoring to independently research using provided guidelines. Students will then record a presentation of their findings, which will be reviewed by the instructor and other members of the class.

Prerequisite(s): Admission to the Intraoperative Neuromonitoring Certificate program

Course Outcomes
  • Identify appropriate methods for performing research with scholarly literature
  • Locate primary and secondary sources relevant to the research topic
  • Synthesize and critically analyze past research in the field of study
  • Prepare and present several succinct, instructive presentations to classmates

 

  • Identify and access scientific journals and academic databases through the college library
  • Demonstrate proficiency with library tools and online resources
  • Develop a clear and focused research question that aligns with advanced topics in the field of intraoperative neuromonitoring, or an appropriate related field
  • Synthesize findings from multiple studies to develop a comprehensive understanding of a specific research topic
  • Present research findings with the class in way that integrates evidence from scientific journals, and emphasizes gaps in existing research and potential avenues for future exploration
