Elementary-level Japanese III. Continues to develop oral communication skills along with reading and writing, including kanji. Some relevant aspects of Japanese culture are introduced. This course requires real-time interactive language practice.

Recommended: JAPN 122 or equivalent or instructor permission
Course Outcomes

Read and write 145 kanji (including 59 new characters) and related compound words
Know present and past tense short forms
Use more complex sentence structures, such as quotations, comparisons, and reasons
Engage in more detailed conversations on certain topics, such as travel or health
Communicate in a culturally appropriate way
