Elementary-level Japanese IV. Continues to develop oral communication skills along with reading and writing, including kanji. Some relevant aspects of Japanese culture are introduced. This course requires real-time interactive language practice.

Recommended: JAPN 123 or equivalent or instructor permission.
Course Outcomes

Read and write 193 kanji (including 48 new characters) and related compound words
Know potential and volitional forms
Use increasingly complex sentence structures, such as relative clauses and multiple reasons
Engage in more diverse conversations, including an informal style
Communicate in a culturally appropriate way
