Elementary-level Japanese V. Continues to develop oral communication skills along with reading and writing, including kanji. Some relevant aspects of Japanese culture are introduced. This course requires real-time interactive language practice.

Recommended: JAPN 221 or equivalent or instructor permission
Course Outcomes

Read and write 256 kanji (including 63 new characters) and related compound words
Know conditional forms
Use increasingly complex sentence structures, such as conditional and temporal clauses
Engage in more diverse conversations, including informal and formal/honorific styles
Communicate in a culturally appropriate way
