CS 332 - Data Mining 5 CR
This data mining course equips students with skills in uncovering insights from large datasets through preprocessing, pattern discovery, and algorithm evaluation, emphasizing ethical practices and cutting-edge applications in big data.
Prerequisite(s): CS 331 with C or above.
Course Outcomes
- Explain the core principles, concepts, and techniques involved in data mining, including classification, clustering, association analysis, and pattern discovery.
- Apply various data preprocessing techniques such as data cleaning, transformation, and reduction to prepare datasets for mining.
- Analyze datasets to uncover complex patterns and relationships using data mining algorithms.
- Assess the effectiveness of different data mining algorithms and select the most appropriate one for a given problem.
- Design and implement complete data mining processes, from data preparation to result interpretation, that address real-world problems.
- Critically evaluate ethical and legal issues related to data privacy and usage in the context of data mining.
