ENGR& 215 - Dynamics

4 CR

Surveys the dynamics of particles and rigid bodies using vector analysis. Specific topics include kinematics, kinetics, momentum, and energy principles for particles and rigid bodies, as well as Euler’s Equations of Motion.

Prerequisite(s): ENGR 214 .

Course Outcomes
  • Apply vector and/or graphical methods to kinematic analysis of: position, velocity and acceleration (in 2D and 3D).
  • Apply Newton’s Law to kinetic analysis of: force, moment and inertia on particles and on rigid body systems.
  • Analyze linear and curvilinear systems, including the use of translating and rotating reference axes.
  • Apply momentum, impulse and conservative work/energy to describe particle and rigid body motion.
