EXPRL 180 - Skills for Navigating College & Career


2 CR

Introduce and explore four areas which may be difficult for students: executive functioning, social interaction, self-advocacy and self-regulation. This includes learning to identify strengths and weaknesses, as well as strategies for success.

Prerequisite(s): Permission of instructor, cohort class.

Course Outcomes
  1. Define Executive Functioning, Self-Advocacy, Self Regulation and Social Interaction. 
  2. Describe how these issues may affect themselves and others. 
  3. Identify, and help others identify, specific interventions and accommodations to make the most of their personal strengths and difficulties. 
  4. Identify and help others to identify personal goals and priorities related to these areas. 
  5. Develop a personal plan and help others make a plan for accommodation, maximizing strengths, and improving skills in each area.
