HCI 410 - Healthcare Clinical Systems Analysis 5 CR
Previously HCTM 410. Presents strategies and tools for systems analysis and the development of user and systems requirements. Emphasis is on capturing and evaluating the needs of various stakeholders including physicians, nurses, patients, and caregivers, as well as meeting health information technology general practices and regulations, and covers techniques to analyze and model healthcare processes.
Prerequisite(s): HCI 310 and HCI 315 with C or higher, or permission of instructor.
Course Outcomes - Compare and contrast strategies, methods, and tools used for workflow analysis and redesign
- Describe interview and communication strategies to elucidate current workflow of different stakeholder groups in healthcare
- Given a clinical scenario apply appropriate strategy to analyze current workflow and care processes
- Create process flowcharts for a given healthcare workflow or care process
- Utilizing a user-centered approach, recommend changes to current workflow and care processes
- Develop strategies for assessing changes to workflow and care processes in order to determine if the change was effective
