RAIT 317 - MRI Lab

This course is designed to allow the MRI student an opportunity to apply lessons learned within RAIT 315 . MRI simulation software will allow the student to set up MRI scans virtually, and to practice with various imaging parameters and patient situations.

There is a $1,000 MRI simulation fee charged for the term students enroll in this course, to obtain yearlong access to the software, in addition to the course tuition and other applicable fees.

Prerequisite(s): Admission to the Radiation & Imaging Sciences program, concurrent enrollment into RAIT 315 , AND permission of the Program Chair.

Course Outcomes

  • Create scan protocols for various technical expectations such as spatial, temporal, and contrast resolution
  • Modify scan protocols for patient scenarios such as trauma or pediatric
  • Predict image artifacts and recommend adjustments to prevent the artifact
  • Create retrospective reconstructed images in multiple image planes
