Python Programming Certificate of Achievement

The Python Programming certificate program is designed to equip students for entry-level roles as programmers proficient in the Python programming language and its associated libraries. Upon completion of the certificate, students will have the ability to design, test, debug programs and demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of object-oriented programming and the software development life cycle. Beyond fundamental programming skills, this program integrates the principles of SQL and database concepts, beginning artificial intelligence concepts and applications, and enables students to leverage Python libraries for machine learning and data analysis.

Eligibility Requirements

• Placement into ENGL 101  or completion of ENGL 92  or ENGL 93  with a C or better
• Placement into MATH 142  or completion of MATH 138  or MATH 141  with a C or better.

Learning Outcomes

Certificate recipients should possess the skills & abilities described below:

• Demonstrate proficiency in Python programming, including a solid understanding of syntax, data structures, and object-oriented programming principles.
• Develop and debug Python code to fulfill specified requirements, employing industry best practices and maintaining strict adherence to coding conventions.
• Explain and apply the principles of popular Python Libraries used in machine learning, data analysis, and data visualization.
• Explain and apply the necessary processes, tools, and skills used in the systems analysis and system design phases of a project.
• Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of database concepts and SQL programming in order to design database systems that can retrieve, manipulate, and manage data.
• Prepare professional documentation, presentations and reports.
