MBS 410 - Modern Topics in Bioethics 5 CR
This class introduces ethical problems relating to molecular biosciences research and the biomedical industry. The emphasis is to train students on awareness of ethical issues specifically applicable to laboratory research and biomedical industry.
Prerequisite(s): MBS 330 or equivalent, with a C or higher.
Course Outcomes After completing this course, students should be able to: • Define morals, values, and ethics • Practice evidence-based decision making • Discuss how society and scientific research are interconnected • Explain the importance of Institutional Animal Care and Use Committees (IACUCs) • List and describe the elements of informed consent • Compare and contrast plagiarism, fabrication, and falsification • Discuss the professional responsibilities of researchers
