The Bachelor of Applied Science in Data Management and Analysis, Data Engineering Concentration is tailored to meet the growing demand of skilled professionals in the intricate realms of data engineering. This concentration focus on design, implement, and optimize data pipelines, as well as delves into critical components like data warehousing, dimensional modeling, and cloud architecture, providing graduates with a holistic skill set for success in the evolving data landscape.
Learning Outcomes
Degree recipients should be able to:
- Use technical tools and statistical methodologies to analyze and interpret data effectively
- Apply appropriate data engineering techniques to address complex questions and challenges
- Integrate data analytics methodologies within diverse business contexts to derive actionable insights
- Demonstrate effective communication skills in various contexts, presenting complex data engineering concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Program Eligibility
Individuals must have:
- Completion of the 65-75 credits of the program prerequisites or equivalent credits that represent the combination of program admission required courses and other college-level credits
- A minimum grade of “C” (2.0 GPA) is required for all Math and English prerequisite courses.
- Cumulative GPA of 2.0 in all college courses Level one
- Excel proficiency Degree Requirements
Degree Requirements
Completion of all required courses as shown on the worksheet for each corresponding concentration. In addition to eligibility requirements, students must also achieve the following:
- Complete Major Core, Electives and Concentration with a grade of C (2.0) or better.
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 for all coursework taken at BC and the courses applied to the degree, including credits transferred from other colleges
- At least 60 quarter credits for the degree must be completed in residence at BC, of which 50 credits must be upper-division
- Technical and math credits must not be more than 5 years old.
Application Process
This is a selective admissions program. Meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee admission, as the number of qualified applicants may exceed the number of available seats in the program. It is recommended that students meet with the program manager before filling out the BAS application to make sure they qualify. Check the program’s website today to see if you are ready to apply and schedule an appointment.
To be considered for the Bachelor of Applied Science in Data Management and Analysis- Data Engineering Concentration, prospective students must submit the following:
- First-time Bellevue College students must apply for General Admission before filling out the BAS degree application. Processing time for general admissions is typically 1-3 business days.
- All students who have transfer credits will need to follow the steps for submitting official transcripts from all regionally accredited colleges attended other than Bellevue College. This will include completing the program-specific Transfer Credit Request form for each transcript. Your application can be reviewed with unofficial transcripts. However, your acceptance into the program will not be determined until official transcripts have been received and evaluated.
- Fill out and submit the BAS application. The Application Fee of $50 will be accepted at the time of completion. You will also be required to upload all unofficial transcripts if not already on file with Bellevue College.

PROGRAM PREREQUISITES (60-66 CR)
- Associate degree in Accounting, Business, Business Analysis & Technology, Marketing, Computer Science or Information Systems, related field, or an equivalent
- ENGL 101 with a C or better 5 CR
- ENGL 201 or ENGL 235 or ENGL 271 with a C or better 5 CR
- MATH 138 or MATH 141 or MATH 151 or higher with a C or better 5 CR
- BATECH 165 or CS 250 or Challenge test for Excel proficiency (see Program Manager) 5 CR
- Humanities from AAS-DTA transfer list 5 CR
- Social Science from AAS-DTA transfer list 5 CR
- Science course in physical, biological, and/or Earth sciences or math from AAS-DTA list 5 CR
- Natural Science Lab-based course from AAS-DTA transfer list 5-6 CR
- Any college-level credits (100-level or above) not used for any other degree requirement 20-25 CR
Students, who don’t have an associate degree in the field listed above, should contact the Program Manager for more information. Students may be admitted with 65 credits that represent the combinations of program prerequisites and other college-level credits.
Technology or math credits must not be more than 5 years old. Math classes more than 5 years old may be accepted based on Math placement test results (see Program Manager).
ELECTIVES (20 CR)
- Any college-level credits (100-level or above) not used for any other degree requirement.
